Who we are

Civils Consulting Ltd ("we", "us", "our") is a civil, structural, and architectural engineering consultancy, and party wall surveying practice, registered in England & Wales under company number 07995667, with its registered office at 45 Victoria Road, London, England, E18 1LJ. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

What data we collect

We collect personal data when you:

  • Submit an enquiry through our contact form — your name, email address, phone number, project location, project type, and the details of your message.
  • Email or telephone us directly — the information you choose to give us in that correspondence.

Our web server also automatically logs standard technical information for every visit (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security and diagnostic purposes, as almost every website does. We do not use this information to track you, build a profile of you, or serve advertising.

How we use your data

We use the data you give us only to:

  • Respond to your enquiry and discuss your project with you.
  • Provide a quote or carry out work you have instructed us to do.
  • Meet our legal and regulatory obligations, for example around record-keeping.

We do not use your data for marketing emails or newsletters, and we do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.

Legal basis

We process enquiry data on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to prospective clients, and, once you instruct us, on the basis of performing a contract with you. You can ask us to stop processing your data at any time — see "Your rights" below.

Who we share your data with

We do not share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We use third-party service providers to run this website and our business — for example, hosting and email providers — who process data on our behalf under their own data processing agreements. Our contact page also embeds a Google Map; if you interact with it, Google may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy, independent of us.

How long we keep your data

We keep enquiry data for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to you and, if you become a client, for the duration of our engagement plus any period required by our professional and legal obligations. We delete enquiry data that does not turn into an instruction after a reasonable period.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Ask us what personal data we hold about you, and request a copy of it.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Ask us to delete your data, where we are not required to keep it.
  • Object to, or ask us to restrict, how we process your data.
  • Ask for your data in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
